Column: Still no answers on Ramapough shooting death
Wednesday, January 10, 2007

"The wheel of justice grind slowly. I never expected 2007 to begin with Emil Mann's shooting death still unresolved.

Nine months after the incident, not only is there no resolution, but there are few signs of forward movement in this case.

Mann, 45, a member of the Ramapough Lenape Indian community, was shot by a state parks police officer under questionable circumstances on April 1, on public parkland.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says evidence is still being assembled to present to a grand jury. No date has been set for a hearing on Mann's shooting.

State Parks Police Officer Chad Walder, who shot Mann, could be prosecuted for use of excessive force, or he could be exonerated. "
