Canadian Native actor Adam Beach is leaving the popular NBC series Law & Order: SVU after just one season.

Beach first appeared on the show as a guest actor a year ago. He later joined the cast as detective Chester Lake, who was described as Mohawk.

The actor, who grew up on the Dog Creek Reserve in Manitoba, had a three-year contract with the franchise. But both parties agreed he would leave at end of this season.
