First Nation sues Canada over infrastructure
The Erminskin Cree Nation of Alberta is suing the Canadian government over conditions on the reserve.

The lawsuit says the government has failed to live up to Treaty 6. The 1877 agreement promised signatories a "medicine chest," the band says.

The failures have led to poor health and living conditions on the reserve, according to the complaint. The lawsuit cites lapses in federal funding and educational services.

The Erminskin Cree are one of four bands based in Hobbema, where gangs are contributing to violence.
