The Nisqually Tribe of Washington is part of a $4.6 million project to clean up the Puget Sound. Money for the project came from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The tribe has a diving team that is removing fishing nets from the sound. "We want to diversify," Jeff Choke, the director of marketing for Nisqually Aquatic Technologies, told The New York Times. "Everyone has had a part in this and to clean this up, it takes both sides." The tribe is working with Northwest Straits Initiative, an agency created by an act of Congress. Get the Story:
