Kevin Ring, an associate of convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff, is going on trial for a third time in the case.

Ring's first trial, originally on 10 counts, ended in a mistrial. His second trial resulted in a jury finding him guilty on five of eight counts related to conspiracy, fraud and illegal gratuities.

Federal prosecutors are now retrying him on two obstruction of justice counts remaining from the first trial. They say he lied to an investigator about his role in the scandal.

The trial is scheduled to start May 24.
