Navajo Nation sees human cases of West Nile virus

Three human cases of the West Nile virus have been confirmed on the Navajo Nation.

One case was a 17-year-old male who has been treated and released. Another is a 70-year-old woman who remains hospitalized but is expected to recover. Both cases were reported in Shiprock, New Mexico.

West Nile is sometimes deadly in humans, typically the elderly.
