The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is close to a new contract with a labor union that represents card dealers at the Foxwoods Resort Casino.

The first contract with the United Auto Workers expired in September 2011. The tribe and the union have been in arbitration proceedings for a new deal.

“The end is in sight," union president Mary Johnson told The New London Day.

Johnson said 15 union members accepted early retirement deals offered by the tribe earlier this year. Another 50 are being offered severance packages, the paper reported.
