"I include this as another of my excellent adventures. This time, the game was fast cars, slick ice, racing a fast car on slick ice and into near-rollover situation - and living to tell about it.
Baudette in northern Minnesota is a gateway to Canada. My task was to interview Karl Dresen for an upcoming "Prairie Voices" feature. Dresen is manager and engineer for the Bosch Group, one of North America's biggest manufacturers of car equipment. Bosch's Baudette facility puts some of the company's products, such as anti-lock braking (ABS), traction control systems (TCS) and an electronic stability program (ESP) to the cold-weather test.
After the interview, Dresen suggested that we run the test field. His test car was an SUV - the kind that have been known to roll easily. I climbed aboard and sat amid a laptop computer and many wires and knobs."
