Drug task force in Montana cites progress

An anti-drug task force is making progress in eliminating drugs from the Crow Reservation and the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana, officials said.

The Crow-Northern Cheyenne Safe Trails Task Force began last fall. It is a partnership between the Crow Tribe, the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, the FBI, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Colstrip Police Department.

An investigation by the task force recently resulted in the arrest of a man who trafficked methamphetamine from Billings to the reservations. Authorities say he sold an undercover BIA agent meth at a town near the Crow Reservation.

Other cases are being investigation for prosecution, an FBI agent said.
