Vigil in Colorado calls attention to domestic violence

More than 60 people gathered in Durango, Colorado, on Monday for the Tribal Candlelight Vigil.

The vigil was held to call attention to high rates of domestic violence and abuse in Indian Country. Participants were motivated by the murders of Nicole Redhorse and Patricia Pacheco, who died early this summer

"A week before her death she told me some things about him that I saw were red flags. I knew that to say anything would make her mad, so I didn't. Say something, please," Pacheco's son said, The Durango Herald reported.

Three men are in court in Colorado on Wednesday for Redhorse's death. A man accused of killing Pacheco is set for a hearing next week in New Mexico.
