Tribe seeks special master for Everglades
Tuesday, October 7, 2003

A federal judge said he will rule on a request by the Miccosukee Tribe to appoint a special master in the $8 billion Florida Everglades cleanup case.

U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno has been newly assigned to the case. Judge William Hoeveler was removed late last month for appearing biased against the sugar industry.

The tribe and environmentalists are challenging the way the cleanup is being handled.
