Oneida Nation issues eviction orders against families
Wednesday, July 30, 2003
The Oneida Nation of New York is evicting four families who have been critical of the tribal leadership, The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.
The families were told they have to leave the tribe's reservation immediately. Their homes will be demolished August 20.
The families won't receive financial assistance for a new home, typically $50,000, because they were stripped of tribal benefits after speaking out against the tribe, the paper reported.
