Tigua Tribe settles dispute over Abramoff fees

The Tigua Tribe of Texas has reached a confidential financial settlement with the law firm that formerly employed disgraced Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed but it allows the Greenberg Traurig firm to pursue claims on behalf of the tribe against Abramoff. The tribe had been a "pro bono" client but ended up paying $4.2 million to Abramoff's associate, public relations consultant Michael Scanlon.
Tribal leaders gave the money for a campaign to reopen its casino. But they didn't know that Abramoff and Scanlon had worked behind the scenes to help the state of Texas shut down the facility.
The Tigua Tribe is one of six tribes that paid Abramoff and Scanlon at least $82 million.
