San Manuel chairman opposes revenues to state fund

The chairman of the San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians said tribes with casinos should not provide revenues to California's general fund.

Deron Marquez said governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger needs to understand tribes and vice-versa. He wasn't worried that Schwarzenegger will revoke gaming compacts that have already been signed and approved by the federal government.

Opponents of gaming have a different take of the incoming governor The head of the National Coalition Against Legalized Gambling said Schwarzenegger's views could turn the rest of the country against gambling.
